Qualified Electricians for Glasgow's West End, Clydebank & Dumbarton

Safe, certified electrical work with clear prices and tidy finishes.

Lumenhaugh Electrical is a team of qualified electricians based in Partick. We look after homeowners, landlords, letting agents and small shops across Hyndland, Anniesland, Scotstoun, Knightswood, Clydebank and Dumbarton, from a single new socket to a full rewire.

All our work is carried out to the current wiring regulations, BS 7671, and every job is tested and certified before we leave. You get the paperwork you need for your insurer, your landlord registration or your building warrant, sent by email the same day.

Older tenement flats and 1930s semis often still have original wiring or outdated fuse boxes. We'll explain what needs doing now and what can wait, so you can plan the work around your budget rather than being sold more than you need.

OUR ELECTRICAL SERVICES

Domestic and light commercial electrical work, carried out by qualified, insured electricians.

Electrician fitting a new consumer unit

REWIRES & FUSE BOARD UPGRADES

If your property still has a wooden-backed fuse box or rubber-insulated cable, it's time for an upgrade. We carry out full and partial rewires and fit modern consumer units with RCD protection, keeping disruption, dust and chasing to a minimum.

Electrician testing a circuit for an electrical safety report

EICRs & LANDLORD CERTIFICATES

Private landlords in Scotland need an Electrical Installation Condition Report at least every five years. We test the whole installation, explain any faults in plain English and can carry out the remedial work so you're compliant quickly.

Electrician installing LED downlights in a kitchen ceiling

LIGHTING, SOCKETS & NEW CIRCUITS

From LED downlights and garden lighting to extra sockets, USB points and a dedicated circuit for a new kitchen or home office, we plan the layout with you and leave walls and ceilings neat.

EV charger mounted on the wall of a house driveway

EV CHARGERS & SMART HOME

We install home electric vehicle chargers, smart thermostats, video doorbells and security lighting. We'll check your supply and earthing first, so your charger is safe and works at full speed.

Electrical Questions We're Often Asked

Straightforward answers from qualified electricians

Warning signs include a wooden or cast-iron fuse box, round pin sockets, rubber or fabric-covered cables, scorch marks around sockets, and fuses that blow often. If your wiring is more than 25 to 30 years old, an electrical inspection will tell you exactly what condition it's in.

A typical two-bedroom flat takes around four to six working days, and a three-bedroom house around a week to ten days. We work room by room so you can usually stay in the property, and we leave it safe and powered at the end of every day.

Private landlords in Scotland must have an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) carried out at least every five years, plus checks on any portable appliances they provide. We carry out both and give you the certificates for your records.

Yes. You'll usually need off-street parking such as a driveway. We check your electricity supply and earthing, recommend a suitable charger and fit it with its own protected circuit.

Yes. If you've lost power, have a burning smell or sparking from a socket, switch off at the fuse board if it's safe to do so and call us. We'll get to you as quickly as we can and make the installation safe.
