Friendly Driving Lessons in East Kilbride and South Lanarkshire

Calm, structured lessons that build real confidence on the road.

Clydelane Driving School is a small team of Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) based in East Kilbride. We teach learners of all ages in East Kilbride, Strathaven, Blantyre, Thorntonhall, Eaglesham and the south side of Glasgow, in modern dual-controlled cars.

Every pupil learns differently, so we tailor each lesson to you. Nervous beginners get quiet roads and plenty of time, while confident learners move on quickly to busy roundabouts, dual carriageways and the kind of routes you're likely to meet on test.

We'll pick you up from home, college or work, and you can book lessons around your shifts or timetable, including evenings and weekends.

BEGINNER LESSONS

Never driven before? We start on quiet estate roads and build up step by step, from moving off and stopping to junctions, roundabouts and manoeuvres. You'll get clear feedback at the end of every lesson.

AUTOMATIC LESSONS

Learning in an automatic means no clutch and no stalling, so you can concentrate on the road. Many learners find it quicker to reach test standard, and it's ideal if you plan to drive an electric car.

INTENSIVE COURSES

Learning to Drive: Your Questions Answered

Everything you need to know before your first lesson

You need a valid provisional driving licence. You can apply for one from the age of 15 years and 9 months, and start driving lessons on public roads from 17. Bring your licence to your first lesson and wear comfortable, flat shoes.

It varies from person to person. As a guide, many learners need somewhere around 40 to 45 hours of lessons plus extra private practice. We'll give you an honest idea of progress as you go, so you only book your test when you're ready.

If you pass in an automatic, you can only drive automatic cars. If you pass in a manual, you can drive both. Automatic lessons are often quicker to master, and many new cars, including electric cars, are automatic.

You need to pass your theory test before you can book your practical test. Most learners start revising as soon as they begin lessons and sit the theory test once they're comfortable with the basics.

Yes. We'll advise you on the best time to book, help you find a date that works, and give you a mock test beforehand so you know exactly what to expect on the day.

We pick up across East Kilbride, including Calderwood, Westwood, St Leonards and Stewartfield, as well as Strathaven, Blantyre, Thorntonhall, Eaglesham, Busby and Carmunnock.
